The infamous hacker maxim taken from the movie of the same name. Why trust your instincts when you can trust your love for all this technology related? The lust for knowledge and information is strong in those who seek shelter underground and whose eyes are glued to a flickering monitor with text flashing and scrolling across the screen. The command line is their battlefield and their weapons are complex commands. When a situation arises they know to always trust their technolust.

This new design from Projekt Brainchild features a retro font with detailed black and white checkerboards surrounded by a stroke of hot pink all in front of a well placed, solid drop shadow. Be the envy of your friends when you proudly wear your hacker maxim, "Always Trust Your Technolust".

Our newest design is our most gritty yet. The stains and dust are as real as the warning. Guns are dangerous, but it's the person who controls it. Concealed weapon laws are heating up congresses across the state. Make a statement concerning your stance on the issue.

Remember the Second Amendment? This new design from Projekt Brainchild is a killer reminder (all puns intended).

Internet Terminals in Coffee Shops

As I'm preparing to return to creating marvelous designs (which I believe you'll be awed and amazed by), I'm sitting an hour away from home in a coffee shop sipping an iced chai and browsing through news sites.

It's great to be back in front of a computer, but it's sad to see that my time away from home and electronics (not including my camcorders or digital camera) is pretty much over for at least another two weeks.

I've got to finish this post because my chai is getting cold(er).

Happy Birthday Ray Harryhausen

Ray Harryhausen is a very familiar sounding name to many people, yet they don't seem to remember where they've heard it before. Born on June 29, 1920 in Los Angeles California, Harryhausen's life was forever changed when he saw King Kong for the first time in 1933. He was so awed by the films special affects that he began to research how the film was made and how Willis O'Brien, stop-motion photographer for King Kong, achieved the affect of bringing a giant ape model to life.

He's attributed to the success of many classic films such as:

Earth vs. the Flying Saucers (1956) (special effects) (uncredited)

Today is his birthday and you can catch some of his films on Turner Classic Movies (TMC) this month. I just caught Mighty Joe Young (there was a remake made a few years ago) and was amazed at the quality of the stop-motion animation mixed with live action. It is worth seeing for the tug-of-war sequence between Joe (a giant ape of course) and leapord skin clad strongmen. During a fire sequence, the black and white cells were tinted red/orange to make the fire look as if it was shot on color film.

I'm going to cut this short because I'm watching Harryhausen's giant crab sequence on Mysterious Island.

Difficulty in Uploading New Design

About two months ago I created a new design that I was rather proud of and could not wait to show off. It features the first name and likeness of one of my tech heroes. It was my hope to have it be among the first designs uploaded to Projekt Brainchild, but that did not happen. Pending his approval, I will be able to upload the design, but until then the design will just have to sit on my hard drive.

I have tried to contact this reformed hacker via e-mail, but I'm sure it was overlooked. Until I receive a yes or no answer, I will continue to wait for a response. It's funny how anyone can create a design bashing a politician, but a celebrity or someone in the public eye cannot be featured on a t-shirt. You'd think that politicians would have protection against inane or otherwise reputation damaging slogans. Oh well, I guess that's just the American way.

Mozilla Firefox: Become Enlightened

For those of you who have heard about this alternative browser, but weren't sure if it was worth buying into the hype: read on.

Firefox has been awared numerous awards including PCWorld.com's Product of the Year and The PC Magazine Editor's Choice Award just to name a few.

Here is a short history of the Mozilla Corporation:

The Mozilla project's launch by Netscape in 1998 was a defining moment for the open source movement. We continue to be a leader and partner in open source development, providing low cost and alternative choices for technology. And, with millions of users, we are one of the largest distributors of open source software.

I remember downloading an internet browser known as Mozilla in it's early stages. It ran well in the Windows environment and had a number of useful features including tabbed browsing (the ability to have mulitiple site windows open using the same application window) and the best pop-up block of it's time. More recently, the time came for the Mozilla Broswer to move beyond it's beta stage and to be released as a new application known as Firefox.

Open Source programs are freely distributed and their source code is exposed for the public to examine and improve. Bugs and security holes are patched much faster in open source programs then those from large companies such as Symantic and Microsoft. Another advantage is that users are able to create new features and skins for the program. Firefox is no different and has a wide assortment of skins known as "themes" and added functionality through "extentions". Some of the added features include the ability to control your media application from within Firefox while you surf the web, built in spell check, and extra right-click functions to make browsing the web even more efficient.

The Inaugural Post

Friends and Fellow-Webizens:

Nearly 14 months ago, an idea was born. An idea based upon a lack of creativity and tangible products featuring unique, intelligent, and niche designs I would have cared to purchase.

A little more than a month ago, my brainchild became a tangible reality. Through CafePress, I was able to upload and purchase my design on a comfortable cotton fitted T-shirt.

Since that day, the time has come for Projekt Brainchild to expand in the most natural way: a web log.

At this newly created blog customers and new readers alike will find updates on ideas and new designs as well as leave feedback and reviews of their favorite designs.

As Projekt Brainchild reaches out to readers across the web, may they find a design that speaks to them and represents their unique interests and personality. This is the goal of Projekt Brainchild.
